Army Nurse Corps / 1937-1946

An army nurse before the war, Farmer survived the fall of Corregidor -- and three years in Japanese prison camps -- returning home to Ohio at the end of the war. Upon arriving she was interviewed by a local newspaper. Her interviewer, Joseph Farmer, became her husband and lifelong companion.
