An army nurse before the war, Farmer survived
the fall of Corregidor Island, and three years in
Japanese prison camps, to return home to Ohio.
Upon arriving she was interviewed by a local
newspaper. Her interviewer, Joseph Farmer,
became her husband and lifetime companion.
